The Return of the Joad

After a brief hiatus (OK, over a year), I have decided to resurrect Tom’s Word du Jour. I’ve given the place a bit of a spring clean and a lick of paint, and I think it looks rather spiffing now.

The title ‘Word du Jour’ is a bit of a misnomer, I’ll grant you. It’s actually more a ‘Word of whenever I feel like it, have the time, or am not in the pub’, but I think you’ll agree that as a title, that sucks a little.

If you have been tempted here by my Facebook status update, why not have a look around and see if you like it? If you do, you could take it to the next level and get updated whenever I post a new thingy. Just click on the ‘Update Me!’ page at the top, and soon your inbox will be embellished by my infrequent rants, musings and general stuff.

To all those who used to frequent this corner of linguistic pedantry (and specially to those who contributed), welcome back. To those who have never been before – where were you?

Tom

Hurray, it’s back! Looks good too :-)

  • Welcome back. What’s wrong with “du jour” – it’s “du jour” of the day you posted it, not “d’aujourd’hui”.

  • @Monica: Thanks! looks a bit sexier than the previous dour effort, dosn’t it? :-)

@Autolycus: Good to hear from you again too. Of course, “du jour” is technically fine, but I didn’t want people thinking it was like “soup du jour”, i.e. a new one every day!
