Goth Gets Garrulous

Well, I asked for it…

Today I bring you another in the “guest blogger” series. As before, all are welcome to have a go – the more, the merrier. Today’s piece is brought to you courtesy of The Spanish Goth, bringing his own inimitable style to these pages. As promised (and the same with all my guest bloggers) his entry appears unmolested and intacto. Read on:

Matriculate

I was asked, in a somewhat polite way, to ‘guest-blog’ on LE WORD DE JOUR and so had to contemplate and cogitate on a suitably Gothic word.

Which word could I select?

I was slightly flummoxed for awhile – indeed, I was somewhat, flabbergasted.

I could be clever and define the history of the words ‘twat’ or ‘fuck’ but, that would just be childish.

I could select a peculiar word from a dictionary which would allow me to confabulate – in a reverse fashion but, that would seem somewhat petty.

Thus, I decided, eventually, to illustrate a word which is very close, in the English Dictionary to MATRIX: Matriculate…….

Once upon a Goth,

Goth had to write an essay and, used the word ‘Matriculated’ instead of ‘Masticated’.

The so-called “teacher” ripped into Goth with an invenctive that has never been forgotten.

The ‘old-Goth’ would have said “Matriculate this mother-fucker!!!” – but the new Goth, having discovered Zen, just thought ……”there is no spoon”

Therefore, before you get twatted, zapped or any other weird shite – MATRICULATE = ‘enrol in a college or university’

Here endeth the Goth lesson on Matriculate…..

There is indeed no spoon. I’d personally rather be matriculated than masticated – at least I think I would. To read more of the Goth’s musings on life, the universe and cats click on the link above or the one on my blogroll.

Nice post, Goth. Just one thing – it’s Word du Jour, not LE WORD DE JOUR.

    From your friendly neighbourhood sub-editor…;-)

  • Ah well, at least a flame war is good for my stats…

  • Reminds me of SimCity ; something about “matriculating” the grid.

It never occurred to me that it might mean something fo’ real.

  • Very interesting, this ought to be posted under G & Goth & Spanish.

Unmolested and intacto?! Not even a spell check for me?

  • Ché: Sim City? That’s a blast from the past! Many a happy hour was passed on my Amiga with that (non-geeks look away now!).

Minky: Hmmm… I couldn’t really decide how to categorize it, so I used “guest” as he is a guest and then “M” for the word itself. If you want a spell check, it shall be yours!

  • Well, I remembered eventually….. after some prompting. And I didn’t choose fuck or twat but did include them as you are bound to get some of the weirdos who find me via Google now

    *runs out of the door*

  • Thanks for the post Goth. I’m enjoying the guest blogging things. If only I could persuade a few more *drops very un-subtle hint*.

As for the language, I did notice a post slipped through into my approval list with the title “extreme asses”. I can only presume it’s about bungee-jumping mules or something. Obviously just a coincidence :-)
